Rescuers search for missing man

Derby Mountain Rescue team were called out by Derbyshire Police on Friday afternoon, November 1, to search for a missing 37–year–old man.

Stephen Cotton, of Stoke–on–Trent, had last been seen on the morning of Thursday, October 31, in Newcastle and Police were becoming increasingly concerned for his safety. It was believed that the missing man was possibly in the area of Ashover, near Matlock and Police called on the team to search dense woodland in the surrounding area.

Thirty eight mountain rescue volunteers, supported by seven specialist search dogs started searching on Friday afternoon and continued the search into the night in appalling weather conditions. The man was not located within the areas searched and Police are continuing with their enquiries.
