Regiment’s boxing match aids cancer charities

A charity boxing match is to be held in aid of the Mercian Regiment’s benevolent fund and local cancer charities.

The regiment - which includes service personnel from across Derbyshire - will be hosting a Military versus Local Boxing Clubs Charity Boxing Event, on Thursday, May 5, at Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell, Nottingham.

Organisers hope to sell around 1,000 tickets, comprising 200 ringside seats with Indian meal prior to the boxing, with a further 800 standard tickets with meal included.

Families, organisations or clubs are welcome to block book tables of nine ringside seats. This will include a regimental host to escort spectators while watching the boxing and later to the officers and sergeants messes for drinks.

Rounds can be sponsored, with the winning fighter photographed receiving his trophy from you or your representative. The sponsor will be announced prior to the bout commencing. Organisation logos and information can be projected onto the main arena screen if provided.

Ringside tickets cost £40 each, standard tickets £25 each, sponsoring a bout (includes one ringside or two standard tickets) £100.

Gates open 6.30 pm, Curry supper 7pm and first bout 8pm.
