Stores at the East Midlands Designer Outlet at South Normanton saw an “exceptional” number of shoppers over the Christmas period – with Boxing Day their busiest ever time.
McArthurGlen, which operates the site, said there was a surge in visitors with an increase of 8.76 per cent.
Sales peaked on Boxing Day with sales up by 11 per cent, overtaking ‘Black Friday’ on November 27 as the busiest day in its history.
At one point, more than 100 people were queuing outside one store at 8am – before it had opened.
Top performing categories at the shopping destination included sportswear, beauty and denim, followed by gift-orientated stores, with Ernest Jones, The Fragrance Shop, Jaeger and Levi’s all reporting record sales over the festive period.
