PLACARD-waving protestors rallied in Chesterfield as teachers strike across the nation over changes to their pensions.
Crowds gathered with flags and banners at the bottom of New Square in a local display of unhappiness over proposals union leaders say will mean teachers work longer, pay more in pension contributions and receive less.
Cries of ‘Shame on you’ rang out as speeches about the plans were made by a speaker dressed as an old fashioned teacher in cape and hat.
“We need to stand together and fight to retain the terms and conditions that people have fought for generations to achieve”, said Unite rep Colin Powell.
