A Post Office branch in Bakewell is shutting its doors for the final time tomorrow.
The premises will be withdrawing from Spar, Unit 1, Granby Croft, Granby Road, Bakewell, on Saturday (November 12) at 1pm.
The Post Office says that it is committed to finding a new location so that people can still access its services in the area.
A Post Office spokesperson said “The premises housing Bakewell Post Office, Spar, Unit 1, Granby Croft, Granby Road, Bakewell, will be withdrawn for Post Office use and the branch will temporarily close on November 12 2016 at 1pm.
“We know how important Post Office services are to people in Bakewell and we are committed to maintaining services in the area.
“We will continue to work hard to restore service in the area as soon as possible.
“Any retailer partners interested in running the Post office on our behalf should ring our agency recruitment team on 0845 6016260 and talk to an advisor or go to: www.runapostoffice.co.uk.
“We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this will cause and thank them for their understanding.”
In the meantime, customers wishing to access Post Office services may do so at:

In October, Stewert Waldron, AF Blakemore Post Office controller in relation to SPAR Bakewell, said: “Blakemore Retail relinquished the franchise for Bakewell Post Office over six years ago and since then, it has been operated by a ‘third party’ company called Zubes International.
“When we agreed to this temporary solution, we never envisaged that, Post Office Limited (POL) would be unable to find a permanent successor in this time frame. Whilst we have been more than flexible with POL regarding the retention of the PO operation, we are unable to accommodate the facility any longer. We can only apologise for the inconvenience this will cause customers and hope that POL will be able to find a new post office operator quickly.”
