Popular TV show '˜Flog It!' heads for Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre

‘Flog It!’ is recording its 16th series and recently filmed its 1,000th episode. Now its cameras are to roll for a valuation day at the iconic Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre on Thursday, September 29 (9.30 am to 4 pm).

“We are delighted to be taking the show to Barrow Hill, “ said location manager Alex Habgood. “It’s a privilege to film at a site of such important historical significance. We look forward to revealing some of its history.”

The show, which regularly achieves an audience of more than two million viewers for its weekday afternoon slot, has been compared to a treasure hunt.

At Barrow Hill, members of the public will be invited to go along to the unique heritage attraction with up to three antiques or collectables they might be interested in selling.

Once the items are valued, the owners and a team of experts decide whether they should go forward for auction at Hansons Auctioneers in Etwall on Thursday, October 20. Everyone who goes to the valuation day will receive a free appraisal of their items, even if they are not chosen for auction.

Presenter Martin said: “I’m thrilled to be taking the show back to Derbyshire, where we always receive a warm welcome. To help us tell the story of Barrow Hill, I’d be particularly pleased to see anyone who has items relating to the history of the site.”

Alexa Stott, marketing manager for the centre, said: “We are honoured to be hosting ‘Flog It!’ in our unique museum. Following hot on the heels of our Heritage Lottery Fund award, we are really putting Barrow Hill on the map and are sure the programme will encourage many more people to come and see this amazing place.”

Over the years, ‘Flog It!’ experts have made many significant finds, including an aboriginal shield that sold for £30,000!
