Police have warned that disorder will not be tolerated ahead of the Chesterfield and Barnsley match this afternoon.

The league one season opener will kick off at the Proact Stadium at 3pm.

There will be an increased police presence in Chesterfield and it will be the first fixture where new body worn video cameras will be used by Derbyshire officers.

Superintendent Graham McLaughlin, of Derbyshire police, who is leading the policing operation, said: “We want people to enjoy this event and indeed the whole match day experience.

“Derbyshire police are well versed in policing high-level football events.

“I would remind fans that any disorder will not be tolerated.

“Anyone who causes trouble or is excessively intoxicated will be removed from the ground or barred entry in the first place.

“If necessary we will arrest offenders and we will seek football banning orders where appropriate.”
