Police want to speak to woman about a possible assault in Chesterfield

Police are appealing for a woman to get in touch with them after is feared she may have been assaulted in Chesterfield town centre.

Derbyshire Constabulary received a call about 2.40am, on Sunday, December 6, from a concerned passer-by that they could see a man and a woman arguing near an alleyway in Hollywell Street, Chesterfield.

A police spokesman said: “The caller believed the woman had been assaulted. We would like to speak to the woman involved in this incident and would ask her to come forward.”

Officers were dispatched straight away, according to police, but could not find any man or woman matching the description provided.

A police spokesman added: “We made extensive inquiries with local business owners, door staff and revellers but we have not been able to trace the pair.”

The alleyway, between Nova Tours and Pinewood Property Lettings, as pictured, was cordoned off as a possible crime scene but it was re-opened about 10.30am.

Derbyshire Constabulary want to speak to the woman concerned and have urged her to call police on 101.
