Police are set to meet local residents at a community fun day in Birdholme.

The event has been organised by the Rother Community Action Partnership and officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams.

There will be a number of stalls and competitions, martial arts and dancing displays and activities for youngsters including fairground rides, Punch and Judy shows and a bouncy castle among many others.

Police Commuinity Support Officer Judith Cornwall has helped to set up the fun day. She said: “Events like these are a good opportunity for us to meet local residents, and offer an informal setting where they can talk to us about any issues or concerns they have.

“They are also a great way for the community to get together and for youngsters and families to try out new activities.”

The Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield will officially open the event, which takes place between 12pm and 4pm on Sunday, July 22 at Langer playing fields.

Refreshments will be served at the Hunloke Community Garden, on Church Street South.
