Police teach staying safe

Bakewell Brownies will soon meet local police to learn about ‘stranger danger’ and road safety awareness.

PCSO Hayley Grundy will visit the group on October 1 for a chat about keeping safe.

The talk will include the importance of telling an adult where they are going, who they are going with and when they will be back, not to talk to strangers and being extra careful when crossing roads.

PCSO Hayley Grundy, from Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “It is important for us to engage with youngsters as early as possible and getting out to their Brownies group is a great way to teach them about the policing work we do.

“It’s important for them to know who their local police officers are and the importance of road safety and stranger danger, especially with the darker nights drawing in.”
