Police support volunteer to offer helping hand

A new Police Support Volunteer (PSV) is set to offer a helping hand to the Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Adrian Portianow, a student who also speaks four different languages, became a PSV earlier this month.

He will be giving up his time to work with officers on the Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, helping to support them in providing a high quality policing service for local residents.

Adrian, 19, is currently studying for a degree in crime and criminology. He speaks English, Polish, Czech and Slovakian, and is also able to understand Hungarian.

Team Sergeant Mark Church said: “I am delighted to welcome Adrian to our team. We are looking forward to working with him to continue our good work in Shirebrook, and to further develop relationships with all members of our local community.

“Adrian will work with officers during their enquiries and help us to engage with members of the public. We are very grateful for the time Adrian will be giving up to help us and the community, and in return we will offer Adrian a chance to build on his understanding of Derbyshire Constabulary and help support him in any future career aspirations he might have.”
