Police launch crime crackdown for Ripley Charter Fair

Operation Waltzer will see members of the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team joining forces with colleagues across Amber Valley, Special Constables and the Uniformed Task Force to make sure the annual event is a fun and safe one for everyone in attendance.

Anti-social behaviour, underage drinking and vandalism are some of the issues local officers are hoping to deter as the fair rolls into town on Wednesday, October 21, before closing on Monday, October 26.

Acting Sergeant Richard Marshall who oversees policing in Amber Valley said: “Last year’s charter fair was a huge success from a policing perspective and I hope we are able to build upon that experience to ensure everyone who visits the fairground this year has a fantastic and safe time.

“Anti-social and other nuisance behaviour will not be tolerated in the slightest during the charter fair celebrations later this month.

“We will be working closely with the town’s CCTV operators to locate and deal with anyone acting in an anti-social manner appropriately. I want the charter fair to be even more successful and enjoyable for all than previous years.”
