Police launch clampdown on parking pests

Police in Wirksworth and Middleton are set to clampdown on nuisance parking after residents raised concerns.

PC Dan Mitchell and PCSO Sue Lester, from the Wirksworth and Middleton Safer Neighbourhood Team, have set the issue as a policing priority following a recent meeting.

Residents raised concerns about inconsiderate parking around Harrison Drive and North End, causing damage to grass verges.

PC Mitchell said: “People have mentioned this as a concern to us and it’s something we want to address straight away.

“Sue and I will be heading out on patrol to speak to motorists about the issue and advising them to park responsibly, taking into consideration other road users and pedestrians.

“We’re encouraging residents to be vigilant of this issue and report any problems or concerns to us by calling 101,” he added.

The team will also tackle speeding vehicles in Middleton, Bole Hill and Steeple Grange and anti-social behaviour.
