Police issue warning after thefts from vehicles across Amber Valley

A man was reportedly seen to be trying to gain entry to vehicles on Crich Lane in Belper in the early hours of Sunday, June 14. Items were taken from one insecure vehicle.

The window of a vehicle parked on Bridle Lane in Leabrooks was smashed before a handbag was stolen from inside sometime between 7.30pm on Thursday, June 11 and 7.10am on Friday, June 12.

A catalytic converter was taken from a vehicle on Swinney Lane in Belper sometime between 11.30pm on Tuesday, June 9 and 10am on Wednesday, June 10.

Items including a laptop, cameras and tools were taken from a vehicle on Woodfield Road in South Normanton sometime between 5pm on Monday, June 8 and 9am on Tuesday, June 9. (CR/24198/15).

A van on Green Hill Lane in Riddings and a vehicle on Penn Street in Belper have also been targeted in recent weeks.

Drivers are being urged to be vigilant and be on the lookout for anyone acting suspiciously.

Other crime prevention advice includes parking in well-lit areas; installing a vehicle alarm system; ensuring the vehicle is locked and secure before leaving it and removing any valuables from display.
