Police investigate 'serious assault' in Chesterfield

Police are investigating a 'serious assault' in Chesterfield.

Officers were called to Thornfield Court sometime between noon and 1pm yesterday.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said this morning: "A 44-year-old man told us someone walked into his flat and struck him in his leg.

"He felt pain and the person walked out again.

"He then realised he had a cut in his leg.

"The man doesn't know who the person was."

Derbyshire police CID tweeted that it was a 'serious assault'.

The victim is currently being treated in the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
