DC Jamie Farrell, of Derbyshire Constabulary, said: "It is possible both homes have been targeted by the same offender and we would really like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area and noticed anything suspicious that evening - in particular if anyone noticed any vehicles nearby at the time.

"I would urge anyone who may have any information about the incidents to contact us."

Residents are also encouraged to be security conscious at home, particularly when away on holiday or out during the evening by taking steps such as leaving lights and radios on timer switches or asking a neighbour to park on your driveway.

Anyone with information about the incidents should call DC Farrell on 101, quoting reference 17*443470, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
