Police cuts meeting goes online

RESIDENTS with concerns about crime and community safety are invited to attend Derbyshire Constabulary’s public meeting on proposed spending review cuts or go online at the same time from their homes to discuss any issues.

The force and Derbyshire Police Authority is holding the first of its annual public engagements from 6.30pm, at The Winding Wheel, Chesterfield, on Thursday evening, January 20.

A police spokesman said: “Those who cannot attend will be able to follow the discussion online and ask questions using the Virtual Surgery discussion forum on the police website.”

Online participants will be able to read a commentary of the event and find out what the Chief Constable and Police Authority chairman have to say about the impact of the Comprehensive Spending Review, force performance and police roles.

They will also be able to submit questions to the Chief Constable and the Police Authority chairman.

A police spokesman added: “We welcome input at the events to help us understand people’s views on a range of services including policing and the level of service expected.”
