Police confirm casualty is hospitalised after Glossop house fire

Police have confirmed that a man who was injured in a house fire has been hospitalised.

The 51-year-old was taken to hospital after the house on Ashton Street, Glossop, became engulfed in flames and smoke about 4.30pm, yesterday, Thursday, February 12.

A police spokesman said: “A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

“He is still in hospital but is in a stable condition.

“No one else was in the property at the time of the fire.”

Police and the fire service have launched an investigation to establish the exact cause.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “One domestic property in a row of detached houses was affected by fire and smoke on both floors.”

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet and a Cobra lance power water jet to extinguish the blaze.

Crews were damping down the blaze about 6.10pm, last night.
