Police appeal following incident at Black Rocks

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident at a Cromford beauty spot.

During the evening of Tuesday, June 30, three climbers were scaling Black Rocks when a group of youths began shouting abuse and spitting at the climbers. Can, stones and branches were also thrown.

PC Chad Fullerton from the local Safer Neighbourhood team said: “As objects were thrown, one of the climbers was hit on the head but thankfully he was uninjured.

“We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the disorder, or who may have seen large group of boys in the area at the time of the incident, to get in touch.”

The group was made up of around 15 youths who were aged between 15 and 20-years-old. It is also believed that some of the youths drove off in a silver coloured hatchback.
