Police are urging people to be alert after thieves broke into a number of sheds and garages in the Wingerworth area.
Criminals targeted seven sheds and two garages in Nottingham Drive, Hockley Lane, Hallfield Close and Mill Crescent sometime between Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 22.
Two bicycles, a chainsaw and a hedge trimmer were among the items stolen.
PCSO Mike Coates, of the Wingerworth and Rural Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Officers are investigating these crimes but we would always advise residents to make sure that their sheds are safely locked up, to avoid storing valuable items or equipment in them and to invest in good quality locks or security devices.
"You should also consider security marking your property as this can help to deter a potential thief and also help officers to trace and return your items if they are recovered."
