Police advise youngsters on how to stay safe

Pupils in Whittington Moor have been getting to know more about the work of police officers and PCSOs.

It is after officers from the Dunston, Moor and St Helen’s Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team paid a special visit to Gilbert Heathcote Infant and Nursery School.

PC Dave Randell and PCSO Becky Damms gave talks to the enthusiastic youngsters about their work and staying safe last month.

The youngsters also had a chance to ask any questions they had about the police and how they can help.

PCSO Damms said: “The youngsters were very interested in the work of the police, and enjoyed finding out about the many different roles.

“It is good for us to go into schools so that we can get to know our local youngsters and build up a good relationship.

“Children should have confidence in the fact that they can approach police officers for any help they may need, then or in the future.”
