Scout groups in the High Peak district held their Chilly Challenges at various venues, but around 30 scouts from the 3rd and 1st Buxton scouts camped at Gradbach scout camp last Saturday night.

To give the scouts an opportunity to test their expedition skills the 3rd Buxton pitched lightweight hiking tents before cooking their expedition type foods for an evening meal and breakfast on methylated spirit burning stoves.

The 1st Buxton scouts hiked over from Ramshaw Rocks to Gradbach scout camp prior to pitching their lightweight tents,

The temperatures at Gradbach were unseasonal, circa 12 degrees Celcius, which unfortunately brought the rain, hence a wet and muddy challenge rather than a chilly one.

Scouting in Buxton preparing and teaching children skills for life and at the same time having fun.
