Chesterfield Borough Council's Planning Committee gave the green light to the plans by Arncliffe Homes to build the new properties on Manor Road, Brimington, at a meeting on Monday.

According to the documents, the land is currently in use for agricultural purposes as a poultry farm and an existing residential bungalow, which will be demolished.

The plans are for 26 detached and semi-detached dwellings.

Some residents living nearby raised concerns about drainage, parking, increased level of traffic and pressure on existing services like schools and doctors surgeries among others.

The plans state: "The proposals are considered to be appropriately designed having regard to the character of the surrounding area and would not have an unacceptable detrimental impact on the amenities of neighbouring residents or highway safety."
