Plan for 65 new homes in Matlock

The development is being planned on land that was acquired in 1928 as part of Wildgoose Construction’s quarrying operation at Chesterfield Road.

Derbyshire Dales District Council has a legal requirement to provide new housing and this land became part of the authority’s Local Development Plan following a series of public consultation and Local Plan meetings.

Wildgoose Construction has a long association with Matlock and was building in the town long before the company was founded in 1896 by the great-grandfather of the current Chairman, Jonathan Wildgoose.

The company was originally located in the centre of Matlock before its continued growth saw a move to new offices in 1984 at Milltown in Ashover.

Mr Wildgoose said: “These plans are ambitious and we pride ourselves on delivering the best possible homes, we want to develop a ‘destination’ development, one that is of the highest quality for the residents of Matlock looking to move home and to also attract new people to Matlock.

“The proposal is to have a mixture of house types, from affordable cottages to family homes to top of the range executive homes.”
