A PISTOL and cannabis were seized by police during raids at two Chesterfield houses.

Officers from the Chesterfield North Safer Neighbourhood Teams carried out warrants at homes in Loundsley Green and Newbold.

The warrants were executed as a result of information received from the community and Chesterfield Borough Council’s housing department about suspected drug use.

Officers found a hand pistol at one address, which was seized and sent for forensic testing.

Officers found suspected cannabis at the second house and a 22-year-old woman received a police caution.

Acting Sgt Martin Rothwell said: “We are working closely with Chesterfield Borough Council’s housing department to share any evidence of drug use so we can both take the relevant action.”

Chesterfield Borough Council’s Neighbourhood Team will be reviewing these tenancies and appropriate action will be taken.

If you have any information about drug use in your neighbourhood call Derbyshire police on 0345 123 3333 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
