President Lynda Hall welcomed members of Pilsley WI to the April meeting.
Mrs Beryl Hayes gave a report on the visit to Bamfords sale room in Peak village. Mrs Ann Smart gave a report on the visit to Hasland theatre, which was a production of ‘House of Games’. Mrs Pauline Clay said there had been three successful walks
The County quiz was cancelled because some teams were unable to travel because of the snow.
Forthcoming events include ten pin bowling, the Scarsdale group business meeting, and a ‘sausage sizzle’ at the president’s home. Arrangements were made for the visit to Hasland theatre in May to see ‘Little Voice’. A team has been entered for the DFWI Strictly come Dancing event in May.
The speaker for the evening was Jon Cook from Derby Mountain Rescue service. There are 50 volunteers, including some doctors. Sixty training sessions are arranged each year, and an average annual callout of 53 times. The service has to raise £20,000 each year to operate. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Jenny Thompson.
Refreshments were provided by Mrs Hayes, Mrs Brook and Mrs Swain.
Raffle prizes were won by Mrs Sherriff, Mrs Bowyer, Mrs Tunnicliffe, Mrs Smart, Mrs Hall and Mrs Brook.
