Celebrations took place around Chesterfield to mark the Queen's 90th birthday.

Residents in Brimington hosted a street party at Barry Road, Brimington Common on Sunday, June 12.

Caroline Wright said: “We ate, drank, played games, sang happy birthday to the Queen, had a royal quiz. Everyone had a fab time and it didn’t rain!”

The event was organised by Donna Roberts who came up with the idea to bring neighbours together.

Craoline said: “We knocked on a few doors to drum up support - most people agreed it was a lovely idea.

“Donna organised some tables and a marquee, everyone bought their own chairs and drink. We bought bunting, napkins, paper plates etc and asked everyone to come dressed in red, white and blue.

“Donna made a cardboard cut out of the Queen which we brought out to the National Anthem and placed at the head of the table, as guest of honour!”

She added: “There were people left until almost 10pm. It was a great atmosphere and everyone enjoyed it.”

The Gospel Mission Congregational Church in Brampton also marked the Queen’s birthday with a thanksgiving service at the weekend.

John Gascoyne, president of Chesterfield Christian Education cut a specially made celebration cake to mark the royal celebration.
