A police cordon has been set up in Chesterfield town centre.

Traffic and pedestrians are currently unable to use a section of Knifesmithgate outside the Golden Fleece pub.

Police have not yet confirmed the reason the cordon is in place but a number of people in the area said they had heard someone had either been stabbed or possibly slashed.
