THE memory of a teen rally cross star will live on after a special event.
Motor sport honoured Dominic Yates, 19, with a packed service, unveiling of a memorial and racing at Blyton Park, in Gainsborough, on Sunday.
Mechanic Dominic – an up-and-coming champion described as a shy young man loved by all – died three days before Christmas in a road crash.
Crowds of more than 500 people attended the day, a testament to his popularity.
Another £500 was also raised towards a fund for a car that budding new drivers can hire to encourage them into the sport.
The family said: “For some of us it was a bitter sweet day...but the memory of a special young life, cut short will hopefully live on for many many more years to come.”
