A person has been struck by a train near Alfreton.

East Midlands Trains said the incident is causing delays on services running between Chesterfield and Nottingham.

The information was released just after 4pm.

East Midlands Trains have said all trains on the Liverpool/Nottingham/Norwich route are being diverted in both directions between Chesterfield and Nottingham, which will extend journey times by approximately 20 minutes.

A normal service is expected to resume at around 6pm.

Customers travelling from Nottingham towards Ilkeston, Langley Mill & Alfreton may catch the rail replacement bus service.

Customers travelling from Sheffield/Chesterfield towards Alfreton may change at Derby for the rail replacement bus service.

Customers travelling from Sheffield/Chesterfield towards Langley Mill & Ilkeston may catch the rail replacement bus service from Chesterfield.

There will be two replacement buses running between Nottingham & Chesterfield calling at Ilkeston, Langley Mill & Alfreton. starting from Nottingham at 1645. A bus will also run from Derby to Alfreton and back as a shuttle starting from 5.15pm to connect with trains which will be stopped at Derby. This will only be for customers travelling to/from those stations. This shall remain in place until the line re-opens.
