Market trader died in hotel room at Tibshelf services

A coroner has expressed her condolences to the family of a Derbyshire market trader who was found dead in a hotel room.

Dean Godden, 51, was found dead in a room at the Days Inn, at Tibshelf Services on the M1 motorway, an inquest was told today (Friday, February 7).

Mr Godden, of The Common, South Normanton, was pronounced dead by a paramedic from East Midlands Ambulance Service on Friday, January 31.

Opening the inquest, Derbyshire assistant coroner Susan Evans said post-mortem tests had revealed the cause of Mr Godden’s death to be ‘suspension by ligature pending toxicology reports’.

The coroner told the hearing at Chesterfield Town Hall: “I would like to take the opportunity to express my condolences to the family of Mr Godden at this difficult time.”
