‘Keep your eyes peeled’: Rescue dog missing from Derbyshire home is still on the run

Three-year-old Olly – who had only been with his Ilkeston owner a few days after he was adopted from a foster kennel in Doncaster – bolted from her garden when she opened its gate on August 13.

The Bosnian cross-breed was last seen on CCTV footage in the Walton area of Chesterfield last Wednesday.

As reported by the Derbyshire Times over the weekend, Helen Buckland – part of a group called Dog SOS Derbyshire – thinks Olly could be trying to make his way back to his Doncaster foster kennel.

Helen, of Chesterfield, said on Tuesday: “We’re hopeful Olly will be found and we still want people to keep an eye out for him.

“There haven’t been any sightings of him since last Wednesday in Walton, which probably means he’s on the move.

“The problem is we don’t know which way he’s heading as he can do up to ten miles a day.

“Hopefully he’ll settle somewhere soon then we can put a plan in place to catch him.”

Helen said it was common for foreign rescue dogs to run off – as they are often spooked by unfamiliar surroundings.

On an amazing trip covering more than 50 miles, Olly had been spotted in Derby, Ashbourne and Tissington before making his way to Chesterfield.

Helen is urging anyone who sees Olly to phone 07934673790 or 07814734867 so she and other experts can bring him back to his worried owner.
