A funeral director in Derbyshire has urged people to ‘show a little kindness’ as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect services.

Funerals are limited to 30 people during the latest national Covid-19 lockdown, with people who do not live together or share a support bubble expected to maintain social distancing while paying their last respects.

Harold Lilleker & Sons Ltd, the independent family funeral directors based in Hasland, near Chesterfield, has called on members of the public to make it easier for mourners by following a few simple requests.

“Can we ask that as you see a hearse passing, you stop and show respect – maybe take off your hat and bow your head.

“If in a car please turn the radio down and help us show support to those who have lost.

The appeal has been widely praised on Facebook, where it has been shared more than 130 times.
