The pair met at a dance – and in fact they went on dance together all their lives until ill health prevented them.

They were married at Christ Church in Chesterfield in 1950

Jim was an electrician while Jean worked at Marks and Spencer.

They have two children, Paul and Linda, three granddaughters, Gemma, Rachel and Maria, and one great-grandchild, Erik.

Asked for the secret to a long and happy marriage, the couple said: “Doing things together – especially dancing.”
