Derbyshire care home deputy manager travels back in time for BBC documentary series

A Derbyshire care home deputy manager and his family are the stars of a new six-part TV series which starts at 7pm tonight (Tuesday) on BBC Two.

David Ardern, who is deputy manager at Eckington Court Care Home, and his family say they are ‘over the moon’ to be appearing on the BBC Two documentary ‘Back in Time for the Corner Shop’.

As well as BBC Two, the series will also be available for viewing on BBC iPlayer.

The documentary takes a look at how local corner shops and their owners have changed through the times, exploring how the transformations reflect the changing lives of families in Britain.

The Ardern’s adventure will begin in Victorian-era and new episodes will appear during the following days, showing their time-travelling journey from the 1920s through to the 21st Century.

During each episode, the Ardern family take a look back over the last 100 years of shopkeeping to discover how the profession has evolved since the Victorian times.
