Derbyshire building site chief Neil is now an award-winning manager

A site manager building new homes in Derbyshire has won a prestigious national award for his work at a local housing development.

Bellway site manager Neil O’Grady has been named as one of the winners of a National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award for ‘excellence in site management’.

Winners of NHBC’s Pride in the Job awards were announced last month with fewer than 450 site managers out of 11,000 across the UK being honoured with the prestigious industry accolade.

The awards scheme, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, recognises site managers who demonstrate excellence and commitment to producing homes of outstanding quality.

Neil O’Grady, site manager at Bellway’s Curzon Park, off Derby Road in Wingerworth, said: “Winning this award is a massive achievement.

“It has been a tough year, with plenty of challenges, so this is a testament to the hard work of the team on site.

“I’d also like to thank Bellway for their support.”

Over the course of nearly a year, site managers across the UK have been observed and judged by NHBC officials.

The judging process for the Pride in the Job awards takes in a multitude of criteria, including consistency, leadership skills, attention to detail, interpretation, technical skills and health and safety.

Neil, along with other award winners, will now be put forward for a Seal of Excellence award.
