Mr Nieto said: “I will be holding an inquest because issues have been raised in relation to whether Brody’s death might have been avoided.

“His mother had previous exposure to streptococcus and I’ll be looking at whether her birth plan had been followed.

“There are issues which need to be examined.”

A pre-inquest review will take place on September 9.

Brody’s parents and representatives from Chesterfield Royal Hospital will be invited to that hearing, Mr Nieto said.

He extended his condolences to Brody’s family.
