Clap for carers: Police and fire crews applaud Chesterfield Royal Hospital staff

For a third consecutive week, Derbyshire clapped for its carers at 8pm last night, with police officers and fire crews joining in.

Derbyshire Constabulary officers lined up at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and applauded staff working inside the building at the centre of the area’s battle against coronavirus.

In a moving video, captured by staff at the hospital, police cars and fire engines saluted staff with lights, sirens, and of course, applause.

A spokesperson for the hospital said: “This is not just clapping for the NHS – it’s clapping for the NHS in North Derbsyhire!

“It’s for key workers everywhere - the NHS, police, fire and rescue, ambulance drivers, shop workers, pharmacists, bin men, carers, teachers, postmen and women, GPs and many more keeping the country running – we salute you.

“ And if you stay at home we can keep coming to work to care for you - and make sure you can access the services you need.
