Armed police officer 'headbutted' by deer after call to suspected burglary in Derbyshire

An armed Derbyshire police officer hunting a burglar was stunned when he was headbutted by the offender – who turned out to be a Muntjac DEER.

The shocked cop was investigating a suspected break-in when he came face-to-face with the crazed animal which had become trapped in a shed.

Residents in Belper alerted police after hearing suspicious noises coming from a back garden.

But when the unnamed Derbyshire police officer opened the door, he was headbutted in a freak attack.

Since the bizarre incident on Monday (1/6), the cop has been the butt of jokes in the force.

Derbyshire Armed Response Unit tweeted: "Report of an intruder in a garden. Suspect was a Muntjac deer trapped in the shed.

“While attempting to free it, it headbutted one of our officers but we eventually managed to get it to 'fallow' us to freedom.

"No offences, assaulting us we'd usually throw the 'buck' at you."
