Scores of villagers called for the lights to be scrapped at two events organised by Derbyshire County Council.

The council has listened to their feedback and has now drawn up new proposals which include removing the lights, introducing a mini-roundabout and bringing in a 20mph zone.

Councillor Dean Collins, the county council’s deputy cabinet member for jobs, economy and transport, said: “Over the past year we have listened to what local people have had to say about this junction and these proposals will both improve congestion while still keeping pedestrians safe.”

Councillors are set to look at the new proposals at a meeting next week. The lights replaced a mini-roundabout but residents raised concerns after they were introduced.
