Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court via video-link on Wednesday (December 12), Keith Chapman, 41, formerly of Olive Avenue, Shirebrook, pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children. He was sentenced to a further 11 months in prison, which will run concurrently to his existing sentence.

It followed officers previously conducting a warrant at his home, where they found a mobile phone registered to Chapman, which contained browser history of thousands of searches for indecent images of children, as well as 238 indecent images, classed between Category A and C, which had been saved.

Chapman appeared via video-link from prison, where he has been serving a sentence since March, for possession of indecent images and historical offences including buggery, attempted buggery, gross indecency and indecent assault.

DC Julie Balodis, who was the officer in the case, said: “Chapman is already serving a lengthy sentence for possession of indecent images as well as historical abuse against young children. His offending had obviously continued into recent years and he downloaded images for his own gratification with no regard for the impact and harm being caused to those children who featured in the images.

“Today’s sentence, added to the previous 15 years he is already serving, will help to protect children and prevents him from causing further harm to young people by viewing images of them being abused.”
