YOUR VIEW: Flurry of closures in Clay Cross despite new homes
I feel very sad about what is happening to Clay Cross town.

I feel very sad about what is happening to Clay Cross town.
I thought good things were happening when a new bus station was built and a supermarket also.
I hoped for better things to come but sadly, although new homes are being built, someone decided along the way to close the NatWest branch. After that the local branch of Co-op Travel closed, closely followed by Lloyds bank and now the JobCentre is closing. We have no bank at all now except for a mobile one and that will probably cease if it doesn’t get enough customers.
We have to travel further afield to bank, book holidays and people who use the JobCentre will have to travel to Chesterfield or Alfreton. Shame on these businesses who are trying to save money by closing local branches. Do they not consider the elderly, disabled, people who don’t drive etc? Thank goodness for Aldi which is opening a new shop in Clay Cross and will be a good rival for Tesco. We need some diverse shops with vision.
