In response to a recent letter to Derbyshire Times about patients queuing outside pharmacies waiting for prescriptions, we must accept that, like other medical services, they have seen massive increased demand in recent years.

Not only are they providing certain medical services to assist GP patient pressure, but also the budget has seen pharmacy groups having increased employer National Insurance payments costing millions. I believe this will force many pharmacies into having to cut costs such as employing fewer staff instead of more! My own pharmacy is increasingly busy, but staff have a great can-do approach and do their best, but their efficiency is also dependent on other medical services being efficient and being able to afford to employ extra staff. Taking all these factors into account, we should be much more considerate to them please and give them respect.
