Letter: Road situation is a total shambles

I left for work only to find four-way temporary traffic lights on Storforth Lane/Eyre Street junction, resulting in a total gridlock as people were already using this route to avoid the endless roadworks on Hasland Road.

Though not advertised or with no notice locally, I’ve discovered these are for ‘planned’ works by Severn Trent, and these have been known about for weeks if not months.

Derbyshire County Council Highways must surely know how busy the road is, with three schools all within a few hundred yards.

Yet they and STW have waited until the very weeks that the local kids return to their schools to ‘co-ordinate’ the best time to do the works.

It is a total shambles as usual!
