When I visit Clay Cross to buy a paper from the newsagent opposite the free car park on Market Street, I am astounded at the laziness and inconsiderate parking outside the shop, which is directly opposite the junction that serves both the car park and the bus station.

A yellow line and signage clearly indicates that parking in this area is restricted for most of the day. In addition, a large yellow notice displayed by the owners of the shop asks drivers not to park on the yellow line.

Parking here obstructs buses turning into the bus station and partially blocks the way for through traffic. This is despite abundant free parking directly opposite the news agency. At best, this is a nuisance, but at times it is also dangerous.

Where are our traffic wardens and police officers? Surely random patrols of the area could include quiet advice and reminders on the importance of the Highway Code.

A reader is critical of some of the parking they have seen in the area recently.A reader is critical of some of the parking they have seen in the area recently.
