How would you describe Chesterfield and North Derbyshire in three words?

Community, engaging, ambitious.

What are your favourite places to visit in Chesterfield?

My favourite place to visit is the town centre and the market square. I always feel really at home, and it’s got a brilliant vibe about it. There are plenty of independent businesses in our town, and there’s a great variety to choose from.

"I’m really looking forward to the redevelopment of the market and the surrounding areas in our town centre", says our latest Champions columnist Rachael Sellors from Workpays."I’m really looking forward to the redevelopment of the market and the surrounding areas in our town centre", says our latest Champions columnist Rachael Sellors from Workpays.

How is your organisation becoming more sustainable?

All of our training courses have a green element to them, offering sustainability choices and knowledge about how to reduce our carbon footprint.

Why do you love working in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire?

I love working with the individuals that I meet every day. We get a variety of different people from different backgrounds, cultures, and age ranges.

All the people I work with have one thing in common, which is that they want to better themselves and their career prospects. We are here to help local people achieve their goals and ambitions.

How is your organisation supporting local people?

We support residents not only from our main site on Newbold Road, but also from a variety of community centres and locations around Chesterfield such as Duckmanton Church, Loundsley Green, and Brimington Community Centre.

We’ve not only been offering courses such as maths and English, we’ve also been offering to help build social skills and confidence which ultimately will help people get back into employment.

What support or advice has your business received recently, and what has been the impact of it?

We have been working in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council, offering digital inclusion support and work readiness programmes to economically inactive residents in Chesterfield.

This is helping to get more people into jobs, boosting economic growth in the town.

Which upcoming development in Chesterfield are you most excited about, and why?

I’m really looking forward to the redevelopment of the market and the surrounding areas in our town centre. It will help local businesses thrive, and it will also encourage more businesses to be formed.
