CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: '˜A thriving town offering benefits for businesses

My name is Debra Johnson and I am Chesterfield Football Club's corporate relationships manager.

I live in Coal Aston with my husband Nick, who is the club’s head of media and communications. I have worked in Chesterfield for around 18 months.

1. What has been the highlight for your organisation over the past year?

It has been a challenging time for the club on the field, but we continue to do well with hospitality and conferencing and banqueting.

I act as a host in the SBK Computers Spires restaurant on matchdays and we receive some excellent feedback from guests who praise the level of service and the quality of the food.

We also put on regular events such as sporting dinners, comedy nights and tribute nights, all of which are very popular.

2. What are your future plans?

We are always looking at ways of improving the service we offer.

A major part of my role is to liaise with current sponsors/commercial partners and develop relationships with new commercial contacts.

Working alongside commercial manager Jim Brown, I also sell advertising boards inside the stadium and player shirt sponsorships.

3. How would you describe Chesterfield to a potential investor? (What sets us apart from other towns?)

I think that Chesterfield is a thriving town which offers many benefits to the companies and organisations based here.

Being centrally placed geo-graphically, it is easily accessible with good transport links.

4. Which high profile events are working well in Chesterfield and what kinds of events would you like to see in the future?

I think that the Lionel Richie concert, being held at the Proact Stadium, will be the biggest event of the year in Chesterfield. Following previous concerts at the stadium, we are thrilled to be welcoming another major international star to the town. There has been a tremendous reaction to the news that Lionel will be performing here on June 21 and I am sure it will be a night to remember.
