COUNCIL chiefs are warning of road closures and disruptions as the Olympic Torch Relay comes to Derbyshire.
The torch will be carried by community champions, on Friday, from Glapwell at 11.33am, Bolsover from 11.52am, Calow and Chesterfield from 12.25pm and on to the Derbyshire Dales including Matlock from 1.45pm, Chatsworth from 3.37pm and Bakewell from 4.23pm.
It will go along Mansfield Road, at Glapwell, Glapwell Lane, Langwith Road, Hornscroft Road and Station Road, at Bolsover, Hady Hill, St Mary’s Gate, Church Way, Knifesmithgate, Rose Hill, Clarence Road, West Bars, Chatsworth Road, Walton Road and involves Matlock Road and Foljambe Avenue, at Chesterfield.
In Matlock, Chesterfield Road, Causeway Lane and Bakewell Road will be involved. Disruptions are expected at Dale Road South, at Darley Dale, and around Chatsworth, and Baslow Road, at Bakewell. The torch will then go to Buxton and Ashbourne. Derbyshire County Council advises people to visit its website www.derbyshire.gov.uk for details and bus services. Chesterfield Royal Hospital will close to all but emergency vehicles for about an-hour-and-a-half from noon.
