Police are appealing for information after Second World War artefacts were stolen from a car in Old Whittington.

Two helmets and two gas masks were taken from a car parked on Newbridge Lane sometime overnight between March 1 and March 2.

Inspector Russ Dakin, of the Community Safety unit in Chesterfield, said: “The items were quite sentimental as they belonged to a family member of the car’s owner, who is a teacher and had been planning to take them into school.”

Anyone with information should contact Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
