No action will be taken against a Derbyshire police officer whose vehicle collided with a 91-year-old man in Chesterfield when responding to an emergency incident.
Dennis Wilson, formerly of Blandford Drive, died at the scene in Loundsley Green Road, Chesterfield, on September 4 last year.
At Mr Wilson’s inquest last month, Derbyshire coroner, Peter Nieto, recorded his death as accidental.
Evidence heard Mr Wilson had stepped out into the road without looking when he was on his morning walk and he was hard of hearing.
PC James Carroll, who was driving the police vehicle, was not speeding, had his blue lights and siren on and braked.
Derrick Campbell, regional director, of Independent Office for Police Conduct, said: “After conducting a thorough investigation we found that the speed and manner of the officer’s driving in responding to an emergency call were consistent with local and national guidance, and his training.”
